What is The IRL Club?

Off the gadget.
On with real people.

A small-group experience session designed to turn strangers into a table of friends, for a few gadget-free hours, once a theme at a time.

Paid & ticketed

Book a seat in advance, this is a curated experience, not a walk-in event.

15–20 pax

Small enough that everyone actually talks to everyone by the end.

Meet strangers

Built for people outside your existing circle, new faces, every session.

One theme at a time

Boardgame, art, mahjong, improv,a new reason to come back each time.

Friends around a table with a phone lockbox

Every session is built around a different activity theme. The core promise never changes,no phones, no wifi, real interaction with people you didn't come in with.

The theme rotates, boardgame one week, painting the next, mahjong after that,so there's always a reason to come back and always a new type of person in the room.

Background

Screens up,
connection down.

Friends at a café table, all on their phones
Screen time keeps climbing, but time spent genuinely connecting with new people offline keeps shrinking. People want to meet others outside their existing circle, but there are few easy, low-pressure ways to do it.
A crowded networking event where many guests look at phones
Most “offline” events are still passive, same room, same phones, same small talk. Real interaction rarely happens by accident.

Brought by a community people trust, run by a team that designs the experience.

What happens at The IRL Club

How it works

Bi-weekly · 2–3 hours each

  1. 1

    Check-in & lock phones

Guests check in and lock their phones in the lockbox.

  2. 2

    Icebreaker

A quick warm-up so strangers start talking.

  3. 3

    Theme activity

Small tables of 10–15 play, make, or do an activity with a facilitator.

  4. 4

    Share-out

Everyone shares what they made, played, or learned.

  5. 5

    Closing ritual

Phones returned, new friends made. See you at the next session.

Phones go in the lockbox.

Every guest locks their phone at check-in and gets it back at the end. Same no-gadget rule in every theme, so attention stays at the table, not on the screen.

One consistent club: check-in, lockbox, and closing ritual stay the same across all themes.
